How The Overtime Expert Works
The Overtime Expert is the ideal solution for running and documenting FLSA overtime evaluations. Here is a quick overview of how it works:
Connect your browser to the Overtime Expert and select the exemption test you want to run.
Enter the employee name and/or the position.
Answer the questions as they are presented to you using simple yes/no responses.
Some questions also link to "Expert Considerations" provided by Department of Labor auditors that you should consider before answering.
At any point during the evaluation session you can link to the text of relevant regulations for more information.
At the conclusion of the test the Overtime Expert displays a status determination of either "Exempt" or "Non-Exempt". It also shows the questions asked and the responses you entered that led to the current conclusion. To print a copy of the results, click the "Print" button.
It is this ability to document not only the determination, but also the line of reasoning that led to a particular determination that makes the Overtime Expert so valuable to show to employees, supervisors, and FLSA auditors.

Alternatively, you may also generate and download a Microsoft Word version of the current exemption test including questions, conclusions, and lines of reasoning.
